Senior guard Josh Hart led Villanova with 30 points, four rebounds and three steals. Wake Forest’s leading scorer was sophomore forward John Collins, who had 17 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Nova improves to 4-0 while Wake Forest takes their first loss of the season and is now 3-1.
#5 NORTH CAROLINA 83 HAWAII 68
UNC was led by senior forward Isaiah Hicks with 16 points, five rebounds and two assists. Hawai’i was propelled by senior guard Noah Allen and his 22-point, three-rebound and thre- assist performance. UNC moves to 4-0 and Hawai’i evens out at 2-2.
#7 KANSAS 86 SIENA 65
While senior guard Frank Mason III led the team in points with 18, sophomore forward Carlton Bragg Jr. was Kansas’ best player with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Siena senior guard Marquis Wright paced the team with 25 points and five assists. Kansas now has an overall record of 2-1, while Siena now sits a 1-2.
#10 ARIZONA 95 SACRED HEART 65
Arizona’s freshman forward Lauri Markannen led the team with 22 points, and junior center Dusan Ristic picked up a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Sacred Heart’s top performance came from sophomore guard Quincy McKnight, who had 22 points, four rebounds and three assists. Arizona is now 3-0 and Sacred Heart’s overall record goes to 1-2.
#11 XAVIER 83 CLEMSON 77
Junior guard J.P. Macura led Xavier with his all-around game, posting 28 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals. Donte Grantham, a junior forward, topped the Tigers with 21 points, three rebounds, four assists and four steals. Xavier moves to 4-0 and Clemson drops to 2-1.
#13 MICHIGAN STATE 100 MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE 53
Freshman guard Miles Bridges paced the Spartans with 24 points and 11 rebounds as well as six assists. MVS was led by junior forward Amos Given with 10 points and four rebounds. The Spartans are now 1-2 and MVS is now 0-4.
#14 GONZAGA 109 BRYANT 70
The Zags got 22 points and eight rebounds from senior center Przemek Karnowski, and 20 points and eight rebounds from junior forward Johnathan Williams. Bryant saw sophomore guard Nisre Zouzoua pick up 22 points, four rebounds and three assists to lead them. Bryant falls to 1-2, while Gonzaga improves to 3-0.
#15 PURDUE 64 GEORGIA STATE 56
Purdue’s top scorer was sophomore forward Caleb Swanigan, who had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Senior forward Jeremy Hollowell was the top scorer for Georgia State with 15 points and five rebounds. Purdue stands at 2-1, while Georgia State loses its second for a 1-2 record.
#18 SYRACUSE 71 MONMOUTH 50
Syracuse saw a top performance from graduate guard Andrew White III with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. Monmouth had senior guard Justin Robinson as its top scorer, putting up 11 points and four assists. Syracuse moves to 3-0 and Monmouth falls to 1-2.
#22 CREIGHTON 103 WASHINGTON STATE 77
Leading the way for Creighton was senior forward Cole Huff and his 19-point, six-rebound night, with the help of senior guard Malik Watson Jr. and his 13 assists. Washington State found production from senior center Conor Clifford, who had 29 points and six rebounds. Creighton remains undefeated at 3-0 and Washington State loses for the first time this year, now at 2-1.
