EASTON, Pa. – Head coach Fran O’Hanlon of the Lafayette men’s basketball team added a pair of student-athletes to the Lafayette men’s basketball class of 2021 during the early signing period on Wednesday afternoon. Dylan Hastings and Alexander Petrie will join Lafayette next fall.
“We’re very excited to have Dylan and Alex join the Lafayette men’s basketball family,” O’Hanlon said. “Each will bring a unique skillset to our team and we couldn’t be more excited to get them on campus next fall.”
Hastings is a 6-9, 200-pound forward from Quarryville, Pa., where he was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Solanco High School. He averaged a double-double during his junior season with 17 points and 11 rebounds per game to go along with 4.5 assists per contest.
Hastings was selected to the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 All-Defensive Team in his sophomore and junior seasons and was a LL League Section 2 All-Section honoree a year ago. He was also selected as a team captain for his upcoming senior season.
A 6-3, 195-pound point guard, Petrie is a four-year starter at St. Christopher’s School in Midlothian, Va. Petrie averaged 20 points, four rebounds and three assists per contest during a junior season in which his team tallied a school-record 24 wins.
An All-Prep League selection in his sophomore and junior seasons and a Richmond Times-Dispatch All-Metro and VISAA All-State honoree in his junior year, Petrie knocked down a school-record 83 three-point field goals a year ago, including a 40 percent mark from beyond the arc. He was a team captain in his junior season and was selected again to lead his time this winter.
The 2016-17 edition of Leopards’ men’s basketball kicks off its campaign on Friday, traveling to No. 4 Villanova for a 6:30 p.m. tilt. The game can be seen nationally on Fox Sports 2.
