CINCINNATI – Xavier baseball announced its complete 56-game 2017 schedule on Tuesday, setting the stage for 19 home dates and road trips to nine different states.
First pitch of the season will come at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 17 in the first of four games against Troy University. From there, the Musketeers will play six more weekend series before getting into BIG EAST competition, which begins on Friday, April 7 at Villanova.
Xavier will look to defend its title at the 2017 BIG EAST Championships, which move to TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. this spring. The four-team, double elimination tournament will run from May 25-28.
The 2016 schedule features 16 conference tournament qualifiers in addition to four NCAA Tournament participants (Southern Miss, Louisville, Ohio State and Wright State). All four 2016 NCAA Tournament opponents were 40-game winners a year ago.
Overall, the Musketeers will face a challenging schedule that features opponents that combined for a 616-523-3 (.541) record in 2016.
