CINCINNATI – Goals by Jalen Brown and Matt Vasquenza along with some highlight-reel defense led Xavier men’s soccer to a second straight BIG EAST win on Saturday, as the Musketeers took down homestanding Georgetown by a score of 2-0.

The Musketeers improve to 4-2-2 (2-0 BIG EAST), getting their second straight shutout to begin league play.

Georgetown, the defending BIG EAST regular season and tournament champions, drops to 2-6 (1-1 BIG EAST).

HOW THEY SCORED

• 34′ | Xavier | A turnover around midfield launched a breakaway for Xavier, which Jalen Brown finished with a one-touch dribbler to the right side of the net. Majed Osman was credited with an assist on the sequence.
• 68′ | Xavier | A beautiful pass from the midfield led to a 2-on-1 on the left side, where Matt Nance rifled a ball to Matt Vasquenza who finished near the back post. Nance and Brown both were credited with assists on the play.

NOTABLE
• The Musketeers, who have yet to record a shutout in non-conference action, have posted two straight clean sheets to open BIG EAST play.
• Only XU and top-10 Maryland have gotten to Georgetown for multiple goals this season.
• Xavier picked up its first true road win of the season with the result, moving to 1-2-1 away from Cincinnati.
• Xavier is now 19-7-3 (.707) in BIG EAST play since joining the conference ahead of the 2013 season.
• Colin Hanley played the full 90 in net and recorded his second straight clean sheet, collecting a career-high six saves.
• Georgetown outshot Xavier 14-10, but shots on goal were even at 6-6.
• Majed Osman tied for a match-high with three shots on frame.
• Georgetown keeper J.T. Marcinkowski made four brilliant saves, including two in the final minutes that robbed Otim and Osman of great looks.
• The all-time series against Georgetown is now even 3-3.
