INDIANAPOLIS – Goalkeeper Emily Lohmann of the Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Norse to a 1-0 shutout against Vanderbilt in double-overtime on Sunday.

The redshirt-sophomore picked up her League-leading third clean sheet of the season as each of NKU’s victories have come in shutout fashion. Lohmann faced 15 shots and registered four saves against the Commodores.

The Cincinnati native played every minute in goal in games against Vandy and Xavier, totaling 192:24 minutes of action. She picked up two saves against Xavier to total six saves on the week.

Lohmann has started each of NKU’s seven games so far this season, totaling 642:24 minutes in goal. She owns an .800 save percentage, the third-best in the Horizon League and has also posted 32 saves, which rank fifth in the League. Lohmann has faced 97 shots en route to helping the Norse defense post a trio of shutouts this year.

Lohmann is the first NKU player to receive Player of the Week recognition this season.

NKU (3-4-0) returns to action when it opens Horizon League play at Green Bay (0-6-1) on Friday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
