ROCHESTER, NY – Rochester Red Wings reliever Edward Mujica has been named the relief pitcher on the International League Post-Season All-Star team, the league office announced Tuesday.
Mujica signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins and was assigned to Rochester on August 20. He has pitched in three games for the Red Wings, earning one save while working 4.0 scoreless innings with four hits allowed and four strikeouts.
The 2013 National League All-Star was 0-3 with 23 saves and a 3.69 ERA (16 ER, 39.0 IP) with 42 hits, 19 total runs, four walks and 27 strikeouts in 36 games with Lehigh Valley before the All-Star break. He closed the Triple-A All-Star Game in Charlotte, helping the IL beat the Pacific Coast League 4-2. Mujica then opted out of his contract with the Phillies. Despite not pitching in the league for nearly a month, Mujica still leads the league with 24 saves.
