The Hornell Dodgers defeated the Olean Oilers 3-2 in their 2016 New York Collegiate Baseball League home opener. The Dodgers took advantage of three costly errors and got solid pitching to even their record at 1-1.

The Dodgers got on the board in the first when they took advantage of two Oiler errors. Andy Brahier (Wisconsin OshKosh) delivered a two-out, two-run single to right field to give Hornell the early lead.

David Yanni (Pittsburgh St.) cut the lead in half in the top of the second when he doubled home a run. The game remained 2-1 until the seventh when Jimmy Webb (Lock Haven) lifted a sacrifice fly to tie the game.

The Dodgers got the lead right back in the bottom of the seventh when Ty Reginelli (Wofford) scored on throwing error with two outs. Reginelli entered the game as a pinch runner after a walk to Adam Naliwajko (Webster). He went to second on a infield single by Tage Johnson (Houghton). Zach Lopatka (Lackawanna) grounded out but the attempted throw to complete the double play ended up in left field allowing Reginelli to score.

The Oilers loaded the bases in the ninth with two outs, but Reginelli made a leaping grab to end the game. Victor Paiva (Dean) pitched the final inning to earn the save while Billy Gregory (Mansfield) earned the win with two innings of work out of the pen. Chance Murphy (USC-Salkehatchie) tossed the first six innings allowing one earned run on six hits. He walked three and struck out three.

Shawn Dubin (University of Buffalo) pitched all eight innings for Olean. He allowed six hits, no earned runs, walked one, and struck out eight.

Brahier was the lone Dodger with multiple hits finishing 2-for-4 with two RBI while Samuel Kysor (Lock Haven) was 2-for-3 for the Oilers.

The Dodgers hit the road on Tuesday when they begin a two-game series with the Rochester Ridgemen. First pitch at Basket Road Field is at 7 p.m.
