Alex Griffith (U of Pittsburgh) delivered a two-out RBI single in the second, and the Olean Oilers went on to defeat the Hornell Dodgers in New York Collegiate Baseball League Opening Night night action at Bradner Stadium.

Jimmy Webb (Lock Haven) reached on a one-out single and moved to second on a passed ball before Griffith delivered with a base hit.

The game remained 1-0 until the seventh when the Oilers scored three times. Webb brought in a run when a ball was lost in the lights resulting in a triple for the Olean centerfielder.  David Yanni (Pittsburgh St.) single drove in Webb, and Samuel Kysor (Lock Haven) drew a two-out bases loaded walk to cap the scoring.

Aaron Phillips (St. Bonaventure) scattered four hits over seven innings to earn the victory for Olean. The left-hander struck out five and walked three.

Tanner Klein (Mansfield) connected on a two-run single in the eighth inning, and the Dodgers had runners on the corners when the game went into a rain delay. The game would never resume and the plays of the eighth did not count in the official statistics.

The Dodgers had numerous chances before the eighth inning but hit into three double plays.

Adrian Lopez (Oklahoma Panhandle State) pitched well for Hornell. He tossed 6.1 innings allowing six hits and three earned runs. He walked one and struck out three.

Webb was the lone player with multiple hits finishing 2-for-3 for Olean.

Andy Brahier (Wisconsin Oshkosh) collected a double for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers and Oilers continue their season opening series on Monday. The two teams will square off at 4 p.m. at Maple City Park.
