MILWAUKEE – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team was stifled by strong Milwaukee pitching and a five-run seventh from the Panthers on Saturday as the Norse fell, 8-0, at Henry Aaron Field.
The Norse (15-29, 4-17 Horizon League) posted five hits in the contest distributed among five different players while the Panthers (20-19, 9-7 Horizon League) managed seven hits on the day.
NKU starter Tyler Miller lasted 6.1 innings and held the Panthers to four hits through his first six innings of work but absorbed the loss after the Norse struggled to provide run support against Milwaukee starter Elijah Goodman.
Goodman pitched 8.0 scoreless innings, holding NKU to four hits.
The Panthers led 3-0 through six innings before breaking the game open with five runs off three hits in the seventh for the win.
Norse reliever Pierce Knisley contributed a scoreless inning of work to end the game.
The series concludes on Sunday at Miller Park with an approximate 6 p.m. start time following the Brewers/Marlins game.
