Miles named to all-tournament team at Portsmouth Invitational

PORTSMOUTH, VA. – Saint Joseph’s senior Isaiah Miles was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Portsmouth Invitational as he averaged 19 points in three games.

Miles, who was playing for the Cherry Bakaert   team, had 16 points, four rebounds and three blocked shots in his opening game. He followed that with a game-high 25 points on 11-for-16 shooting. Miles closed out play with 16 points and three blocks as he shot 5-for-9 from the field.

Miles is coming off a career-best season in which he became one of the most improved players in the nation and was such honored with the Most Improved Player Awards by both the Atlantic 10 and the Philadelphia Big 5. He led Saint Joseph’s in scoring with 18.1 points and in rebounding with 8.1, numbers which were an increase of seven points and three rebounds from his junior year.

He was named Saint Joseph’s Co-MVP for 2016, sharing the honor with Atlantic 10 Player of the Year DeAndre’ Bembry. The 6-8 forward from Baltimore, Md., was a first-time honoree to the All-Big 5 and All-Atlantic 10 teams, as well as the NABC All-District 4 first team, and was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
