ROCHESTER, NY – The Rochester Red Wings are ready to #ROCTheSummer with another outstanding promotional lineup for the 2016 season. Special celebrity appearances, fireworks, theme nights and postgame concerts – to name a few – make the upcoming 20th season at Frontier Field is sure to be an exciting one.
“We take great pride as an organization in making sure our fans have a special experience each and every time they come out to Frontier Field,” General Manager Dan Mason said. “We believe we have put together another top-notch promotional lineup this season that fans of all ages can enjoy. This is a special season and many of our promotions will be geared towards rekindling some of the great memories that fans have from our first 19 seasons at Frontier Field.”
Frontier Field opened in 1997 and the Red Wings celebrated their 10th Governors’ Cup Championship at the end of that season. On July 30, many of the members from that squad will be in town to celebrate with a Team Reunion Night presented by Castle, including the man who managed it all, Marv Foley. Fans that night will also receive a baseball hat with the 1997 Governors’ Cup Championship logo courtesy of Segar & Sciortino. Cap the night off with a fireworks show and July 30 will be a can’t-miss date.
Speaking of fireworks, each Friday and Saturday night beginning May 13 will feature them, courtesy of NY 529 College Savings Direct Plan, Wilmot Cancer Center, East House, Honda, ESL Federal Credit Union, Flower City Printing, Batavia Downs and Toyota.
Announced yesterday, country music star Joe Nichols will take the stage on Saturday, July 16 following the Red Wings game vs. Norfolk at 6:05 p.m. presented by 92.5 WBEE, Cycle Stop & McDonald’s. Admission to the concert is included with a game ticket. July 16 will also be Military Appreciation Night.
The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will also perform a concert following the game on Friday, July 15 with fireworks to follow. Admission is included with a game ticket.
The ever-popular Batman Night and Star Wars Night return in 2016. Lee Meriwether, Catwoman in the 1966 Batman film, and the Batmobile will be at Frontier Field on Friday, June 24. The following night, the Red Wings will wear a special Rebel Fighter jersey from Star Wars with a jersey auction to follow benefitting Hillside Family of Agencies. A special ticket pack is available for Star Wars Night on Saturday, June 25 and features a mini-bobblehead along with a game ticket starting at $17. Fireworks will follow both nights.
Autograph appearances will include two-time World Series Champion Joe Carter (Sunday, August 14), 11-year Major Leaguer Mitch Williams (Thursday, July 21), former Red Sox pitcher Luis Tiant (Tuesday, June 28), WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart (Saturday, May 14), NFL Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas (Friday, July 15), former Bills linebacker Darryl Talley (Monday, July 18) and former Wings manager Stan Cliburn (Thursday, July 14).
The ZOOperstars! will be at Frontier Field on Saturday, June 11 and Saturday, August 13 with BirdZerk bringing his act to the Flower City on Friday, June 10.
The 2016 bobblehead giveaway will be P.J. Forbes, who made “The Catch” in the Governors’ Cup Championship-clinching Game 5 at Frontier Field, to the first 2,000 adults on Thursday, September 1. The bobblehead will depict “The Catch.”
Other giveaway highlights include backpacks to the first 1,600 kids on Saturday, June 11, baseballs to the first 1,000 fans onSunday, June 12, pillow cases for Halloween Night on Wednesday, August 3 and an All-Frontier Field team poster onThursday, August 18.
Unchanged from 2015, each day of the week offers something different at Frontier Field:
· Sunday: Knot Hole Gang Kids’ Club Day presented by Excellus Blue Cross BlueShield…kids will have the chance to run the bases with Spikes & Mittsy following the game presented by The Burger Bar at Wegmans Pittsford…fans receive $1 off any ticket by presenting a publication from any church, house of worship, civic, or nonprofit group (limit of four tickets, each at $1 off)
· Monday: Kids Eat Free presented by Basch and Nickerson LLP…the first 500 kids 12 & under will receive a hot dog, soda and snack.
· Tuesday and Thursday: Fan 4-Pack Get four reserved seat tickets, four hot dogs, four 12-oz. drinks, and a yearbook for $36 (save $15 off regular prices; $40 when ordered the day of the game).
· Wednesday: $1 Menu Night with $1 Zweigle’s hot dogs, Cracker Jack, peanuts and potato chips.
· Friday: Post-game Fireworks (starting May 13).
· Saturday: Post-Game Fireworks, presented by ESL Federal Credit Union (starting May 14).

The Red Wings home schedule begins Saturday, April 9 with a 4:05 pm matinee against the Scranton/WB RailRiders. Once again, the Wings have issued a 50-degree guarantee for Opening Day. If the temperature doesn’t reach 50 degrees, everyone with a ticket to Opening Day will get a FREE ticket to any remaining home game in April or May. Tickets to Opening Day can be purchased NOW online only at RedWingsBaseball.com. Single game tickets for the 2016 season will go on sale beginning Saturday, March 26 online and at the Frontier Field Ticket Office.
