Quadir Welton, Saint Peter’s

Jr., F, 6-8, 251, Philadelphia, PA/Math, Civics and Science Charter

Welton averaged 19.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game to help Saint Peter’s to a pair of wins to secure an opening round bye and the fourth seed in the upcoming MAAC Tournament, its highest seed since 2010-11. The junior posted 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 61-40 win against Manhattan on Tuesday. Welton recorded 10 points and seven rebounds in the second half to help the Peacocks pull away and notch their first season sweep of the Jaspers since 2010-11. The Philadelphia, Pa., native, repeated the second-half dominance against Fairfield on Saturday to lock up the No. 4 seed in the MAAC Tournament after posting 13 of his 20 points and seven of his 12 rebounds in the final frame to earn the 72-68 win against the Stags. Fairfield cut it to a possession time three times when Welton recorded points to give the Peacocks a bigger advantage. The junior shot 15-for-28 (.528) from the floor and 8-for-10 (.800) from the free throw line while adding five assists, two blocks and two steals while posting a pair of double-doubles in the week.

Rookie of the Week

Matija Milin, Fairfield

Fr., F, 6-9, 220, Belgrade, Serbia/Sports Gymnasium

Matija Milin averaged 16 points per game in a 1-1 week for the Stags, scoring 16 points in each of his two performances. Milin came off the bench in both games and led all Fairfield reserves in scoring. He shot 71 percent in the win over Siena (5 of 7) and had the same percentage at the line (5 of 7). He came back with three three pointers and five free throws in the four-point loss to Saint Peter’s. For the week, Milin shot 50 percent from the floor (9 of 18), 40 percent from three-point range (4 of 10), and 71 percent from the line (10 of 14).
