EDISON, NJ – The 2015-16 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season has concluded and all eleven teams will advance to the 2015-16 MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY from Thursday, March 3 to Monday, March 7.
Monmouth University claimed its first ever MAAC regular season crown finishing the regular season with a 17-3 MAAC record and program best 25-6 overall mark. Monmouth will face the winner of #8 Rider University versus #9 Quinnipiac University on Friday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m.
Iona College finished in second place and will be the second seed. The Gaels finished the regular season with a 16-4 MAAC mark and a 19-10 overall record. Iona will be facing the winner of #7 Canisius College versus #10 Niagara University onFriday, March 4 at 9:30 p.m.
Championship host, Siena College finished the regular season in third place after compiling a 13-7 MAAC record and overall mark of 20-11. The Saints will be the #3 seed and take on the winner of the #6 Manhattan College against #11 Marist College on Saturday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m.
Saint Peter’s University and Fairfield University both finished the regular season with a 12-8 MAAC records. The Peacocks by virtue of a tiebreaker earns the fourth seed in the championship and the Stags earn the fifth seed. The two will meet onSaturday, March 5 at 9:30 p.m.
Manhattan College is the sixth seed and will face eleventh seed Marist College in the first round on Thursday, March 3 at 9:00 p.m. The Jaspers finished conference play with a 9-11 MAAC record, while Marist finished with a 4-16 mark.
Seventh seeded Canisius College will play 10th seeded Niagara University on Thursday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. The Griffs finished 8-12 in the conference and the Purple Eagles went 5-15 in conference play.
Rider University also finished the regular season with an 8-12 MAAC record for the eighth seed and will take on the ninth seed in Quinnipiac University which closed out the MAAC season with a 6-14 conference record.
The 2016 MAAC Championship title game will take place on Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. and will air live on ESPN with the winner earning the leagues automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
