Lids Team Sports Patriot League Player of the Week
Kevin Ferguson, ARMY WEST POINT Sr., C, 6-10, 200; Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston (USMAPS)
Ferguson continued his fantastic close to both his season and career at Army West Point by recording two more double-doubles last week, giving him six in a row with the Black Knights going 5-1 over that span. He had a career-high 25 points while making 12-of-16 field goals and pulling down 13 rebounds in a 72-68 victory at home against Holy Cross on Wednesday, then totaled 22 points and a career-high 19 boards in an 80-78 double-overtime victory at Navy. Ferguson provided the drama in the victory by scoring on a putback with 0.7 seconds left in double OT to give Army West Point the win, which marked his 12th offensive rebound of the contest. He made 20-of-30 shots (66.7%) in the two games and averaged 23.5 points and 16.0 rebounds per contest. Ferguson has 14 double-doubles and 18 double-digit rebounding games in his career, and also has four straight and eight-career outings of 20 points or more. His recent surge has qualified Ferguson for the Patriot League leaderboard in career field-goal percentage, and he is easily in first place on the list at 63.0 percent. Ferguson also stands fifth in League history in blocked shots (193) and 17th in rebounds (675). He leads the Patriot League this season in double-doubles (10), field-goal percentage (62.5%) and rebounds per game (9.5), where he stands 33rd in the nation. Ferguson earns his second career Lids Team Sports Patriot League Player of the Week award.
Lids Team Sports Patriot League Rookie of the Week
Delante Jones, AMERICAN Fr., G/F, 6-5,195; Chantilly, Va./Virginia Episcopal
Jones hit the game-winning shot in the lane with 2.3 seconds left to lift American to a 71-70 win in overtime at Holy Cross on Sunday, giving the Eagles a pair of one-point OT wins for the week after he also played a key role in a 60-59 triumph at home against Lafayette on Wednesday. Jones scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the win over the Leopards, and totaled 12 points with three assists and two boards in the victory at Holy Cross. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the three games. Jones leads all Patriot League freshmen in scoring both for the season (11.5 ppg) and during League play (13.6 ppg), where he stands 10th overall. Jones is named Lids Team Sports Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Honorable Mention
Austin Tillotson, COLGATE Sr., G, 6-0, 175; York, Pa./Eastern York
Tillotson had the top play of the night on SportsCenter as he made a shot from halfcourt to lift Colgate to a 93-90 win in overtime against Loyola on Sunday. The shot capped a spectacular week as Tillotson scored a career-high 28 points against Boston University on Wednesdayand had 20 points with eight assists in the win over Loyola.
Kahron Ross, LEHIGH So., G, 5-11, 155; Jonesboro, Ark./Jonesboro
Ross averaged 17.3 points and 6.7 assists as Lehigh won all three games last week to run its winning streak to seven in a row.
Jesse Reed, AMERICAN Sr., G, 6-5, 185; Saltsburg, Pa./Kiski School
Reed averaged 16.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as American had a pair of one-point overtime victories last week.
Dom Hoffman, BUCKNELL Sr., F, 6-7, 220; Hawthorne, N.J./Gill St. Bernard’s
Hoffman set or matched career highs in points (15), rebounds (9) and assists (5) on Senior Day as Bucknell posted an 80-59 win against Boston University to maintain sole possession of first place in the Patriot League.
