ROCHESTER, NY – On the heels of a historic February winter storm and in the spirit of the ongoing Presidential nomination races, Rochester Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason has once again issued a bold guarantee.

“2016 will mark our 20th season at Frontier Field and throughout the year our goal will be to rekindle so many of the great memories that fans have from our first 19 seasons,” Mason said. “The Home Opener is always a special day and we’ll kick off our 20th season celebration on April 9. Even though I was off by seven degrees last year, I guarantee it will be 50 degrees on Opening Day or each ticket will be good for any remaining Red Wings home game in April or May at Frontier Field.”

The historical high temperature average on April 9 is 53 degrees in Rochester. Last year, the thermometer in right field only reached 43 degrees, meaning all fans in attendance received a ticket to any Red Wings home game in April or May.

The 2015 Home Opener was a memorable one for those at Frontier Field. The Wings honored first responders during pregame ceremonies, highlighted by the first pitch of Christian Pierson, son of Rochester Police Officer Daryl Pierson. The day was capped off by a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth by Josmil Pinto. As Democrat & Chronicle Columnist Leo Roth put it, “The Red Wings…outdid themselves in the memory making department.”

“In honor of only 50 days until Opening Day, fans can get their Home Opener tickets for the first time at RedWingsBaseball.com starting at 9 a.m. Friday,” Mason said. “With 20 inches of snow on the ground it’s hard to fathom we are only 50 days from Opening Day but we know time will fly between now and April 9.”

Tickets for the Home Opener will go on sale exclusively at RedWingsBaseball.com at 9 a.m. on Friday, February 19. Fans can also purchase Season Seats, Mini-Plans or Diamond Debit – on sale now – by calling 454-1001 to secure Home Opener tickets as part of each package. The Ticket Office will open for the first time on Saturday, March 26.

Today also marks the first of several weekly videos to get fans ready for the upcoming season. As promotions for 2016 are finalized they will be added to the promotional calendar on RedWingsBaseball.com. Fans can follow the Wings on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as more exciting nights and giveaways are unveiled.
