BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a pair of dominant double-double performances last week, Lehigh men’s basketball junior Tim Kempton was named Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday. The Player of the Week award marks Kempton’s first of the season and second of his career. The Scottsdale, Arizona native posted 45 points and 25 rebounds over a pair of road victories which came 48 hours apart.
Kempton began the week by scoring 22 points and grabbing 13 rebounds at Lafayette Monday, knocking down 9-of-10 from the field and 1-of-1 from three-point range. He also tallied a season-high three blocks. Kempton followed with 23 points and 12 boards at Bucknell two days later, shooting 8-of-12 from the field to help Lehigh win its fourth straight game.
Kempton finished the week shooting 77 percent from the field (17-of-22) with the double-doubles marking his sixth and seventh of the season (and 26th and 27th of his career). He is currently second in the Patriot League in scoring average (17.7) and second in rebounding (8.4). Kempton leads the league in scoring in league games (18.2).
The Mountain Hawks return home on Monday night to host Holy Cross at 7:30 p.m. in a nationally-televised game on CBS Sports Network. Lehigh then hits the road for a Wednesday night showdown at Navy. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
