Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University freshman guard Joseph Chartouny was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for games played from February 8-14, it was announced today. The award is the fifth overall rookie of the week honor for Chartouny.
In two games on the week, Chartouny averaged 14.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 7.5 assists/game while also recording four steals. His best effort was a 15-point and season-high eleven-assist game on Wednesday versus St. Bonaventure in the Rose Hill Gym for his fourth double-double of the year. The eleven assists surpassed his previous season-high of seven, and he also had five rebounds and four steals in the contest. In Fordham’s other game on the week, Chartouny scored 13 points and added six rebounds and four assists in a loss at Richmond.
On the year, Chartouny is averaging 9.9 ppg and 5.8 rpg while recording a team-high 98 assists to go with 38 steals. He leads the Atlantic 10 in assists (5.4/game) and is third in steals (2.1/game) while also ranking sixth in assist/turnover ratio (2.1).
The Rams, 12-11 overall on the year, 3-9 in the Atlantic 10, return to action on Wednesday night, February 17, as they host the University of Massachusetts Minutemen in an Atlantic 10 contest in the historic Rose Hill Gym at 7:00 p.m. for a game that will be televised live on the American Sports Network (ASN).
