Caruso heads list of NYCBL alums garnering pre-season collegiate honors

The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper named Alex Caruso (Syracuse Jr. Chiefs ’13) the Big East Conference Pre-Season Player of the Year. Caruso was one of 12 former New York Collegiate Baseball League players at the Division I to receive honors.

Caruso, a 2013 NYCBL All Star and first-team All-League selection, hit .350 in 34 regular season appearances. The Liverpool, New York native led the NYCBL with 34 walks and an On-Base Percentage of .524. The 5-10 outfielder stole seven bases while being caught three times. He drove in 16 runs and collected four doubles.

Caruso hit .382 with nine doubles and 23 RBI for St. John’s last year.
