ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy senior center Will Kelly has been named the NAAA Athlete of the Week, presented by Rolls-Royce for the week ending February 1. This is the second time this season that Kelly has been named the NAAA Athlete of the Week.
Kelly led Navy to a 64-50 win at Army West Point in the 2016 Star Game on Monday. Kelly posted a double-double to help Navy beat Army to win the N-Star. He tallied 15 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, two assists and two steals in the 64-50 win over Army.
His defensive efforts helped hold Army to 29 points under its season average and 15 points below its previous season low.
Kelly is averaging 9.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots. He ranks sixth in the NCAA in total blocks with 62 and is 11th in blocks per game (2.7). Kelly leads the Patriot League in both categories.
Kelly’s 62 blocked shots this season are the eighth most in school history and his 174 career blocked shots rank third at Navy.
In other games last week, Kelly had nine points and three rebounds in an overtime loss at Holy Cross and had five points and two blocks in a loss at American.
