DeAndre’ Bembry Named Big 5 Player of the Week

Saint Joseph’s junior DeAndre’ Bembry has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and the fourth time this season.

Bembry averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals to lead the Hawks to a pair of wins against Philadelphia teams.

The 6-6 forward recorded 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists and a season-high four steals in the Big 5 victory over Penn. He followed that with a game-high 16 points and six assists in the Atlantic 10 win over La Salle, while also adding four rebounds and four steals. Bembry connected on 7-for-13 from the field.

Bembry, who has scored double figures in 22 games dating back to last season, is averaging 17.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists for the Hawks.

Saint Joseph’s, which has won five straight and 12 of the last 13 games, hosts Massachusetts on Wednesday at Hagan Arena.
