Saint Joseph’s junior DeAndre’ Bembry has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for January 18. It marks the third time this season that he has earned the honor and the sixth time in his career.

Bembry averaged 21.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in the Hawks’ 2-0 week, while shooting 58.1 percent from the field.

He posted 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in the win at George Mason. Bembry followed that with a game-high 26 points, on a career-best 11-for-17 shooting, and 12 rebounds in the 80-55 win over Fordham.

Bembry has posted double-doubles in two consecutive games and in five this year.

The 14-3 Hawks have now won three in a row and 10 of their last 11. SJU takes a break from A-10 play when it plays Penn on Wednesday evening in a Big 5 doubleheader that celebrates the 60th anniversary of the famed Philadelphia league.
