Xavier’s Myles Davis honored again by the Big East

CINCINNATI — Xavier University junior guard Myles Davis has been named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for a second time this season. Davis led Xavier with a season-high 19 points in the win at St. John’s on Jan. 6, including 16 in the second half. Davis scored 16 of XU’s final 26 points. He added four assists, three rebounds and a steal while hitting all nine of his free-throw attempts.

Davis is third on the team in scoring at 10.9 ppg. and leads the team in assists (10th in the BIG EAST at 3.3 apg.) and assist-to-turnover ratio (seventh in the BIG EAST at 2.3). 

Davis is first in the BIG EAST Conference and second in the nation in free-throw shooting at .952, right behind the leader Jaleen Smith of New Hampshire at .958, and has hit 23 straight free throw attempts. Davis, who has hit 40-of-42 free throw attempts this season, has not missed since the second half of the USC game on Nov. 27. The top free throw streaks on record at Xavier are 31 (Romain Sato in 2003-04 and James Posey in 1998-99), 30 (Bill Kirvin in 1959-60) and Tu Holloway (27 in 2008-09).

Xavier, 14-1 overall and 2-1 in the BIG EAST Conference, hosts DePaul on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
