ROCHESTER, NY – Former Rochester Red Wings Drew Butera (Royals), Michael Cuddyer and Sean Gilmartin (Mets) are each on their respective team’s 25-man World Series roster.

A former Wing will be on an active World Series roster and, with at least one on each team, be a World Series Champion for the first time since Jose Mijares in 2012. Mijares retired the only batter he faced for San Francisco in game 1 vs. Detroit as the Giants swept the Tigers in four games in 2012.

Nick Punto and Kyle Lohse are the last former Red Wings to start a World Series game, both for the St. Louis Cardinals in a seven-game triumph over the Texas Rangers in 2011. Punto started games 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 while Lohse started on the mound in game 3.

Butera appeared in 141 games for the Red Wings in 2009, ‘12 and ‘13; Cuddyer played in 60 games in ‘03, ‘05 and ‘08; Gilmartin made 14 starts for Rochester last season and was selected by the Mets in the Rule 5 Draft in December.
