OLEAN, N.Y. — David “Bubba” Hollins (St. Petersburg Coll) supplied all the offense needed as the Olean Oilers defeated the Rochester Ridgemen, 2-1 in New York Collegiate Baseball League action at Bradner Stadium, Wednesday.
Hollins singled and scored on an Aaron Phillips (St. Bonaventure) sacrifice fly in the sixth as the Oilers improved to 10-10 and kept pace in the NYCBL’s Western Division.
With runners on corners and one out, Hollins plated Sam Kysor (USC-Upstate) with the eventual game-winning run in the seventh.
Kysor led the frame with a base hit. Cole Peterson (St. Bonaventure) moved the runner with a sacrifice bunt. Mike Fahrman (U of Florida) singled and set the table for Hollins who delivered his 19th RBI (tied for first in the league with Genesee’s Dan Crozier) of the season.

Nathan Grant (St. Bonaventure) pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless for the win. The right-hander from Corning, New York allowed four hits, struck out four and walked none for his first win of the season.
Adam Rigney (Nichols) allowed one unearned run over six and a third innings of no-hit ball. The right-hander struck out three and walked one.
Mitchell Donahue (Toccoa Falls Coll) started and allowed one run on seven hits over six innings for Rochester.
Chad Anders took the loss.
Hollins finished the day 3-for-4.
Isaac Dillard (Gulf Coast CC) collected three hits in four trips for the Oilers. Jonathan Lapolla (Suffolk U) went 2-for-4.
Michael DiViesti (Butler U) drove in Rochester’s only run with a one-out single in the seventh. DiViesti was 2-for-4 on the day.
Olean trails first-place Niagara (13-6) by 3.5 games. The Oilers get a day off before hosting Genesee (13-7) Friday night. A 7 p.m. first pitch is slated at Bradner Stadium.
Rochester (7-12) travel to Hornell to take on the Dodgers (13-7) on Thursday. A 7 p.m. start at Maple City Park is scheduled.
