SHERRILL, N.Y. — Zephan Kash connected for his second home run in as many days, and the Cortland Crush erased a late-inning deficit en route to a 5-4 victory over the Sherrill Silversmiths in New York Collegiate Baseball League action at Noyes Park, Wednesday.

Trailing by two in the sixth, Kash drilled a two-out blast and plated teammate Jose Arebalo (Eastern Nazarene) on the play.

One inning later, Nicholas Panissidi (Neumann Coll) brought home Matthew Aleberino (Northland) with a single and scored on a ground out to give Cortland a lead it did not surrender.

A trio of Cortland relievers threw a scoreless inning apiece to secure the win.

Joseph Jones (Maryville) tossed a scoreless seventh for his second win of the season.

Nate Verst (Kentucky Wesleyan) faced the minimum in the eighth for the hold, and Tyler Saundry (Niagara) hurled a shutout ninth for his second save of the season.

Cortland struck first. Luke Gilbert (SUNY Brockport) singled with one out in the second and later scored an unearned run.

Sherrill responded.

Connor Bowie (Mt. Aloysius) brought home Luke Johnson (Bucknell) and Ryan Skalnik (Neosho CC) with a bases-loaded two-out single in the home half of the second.

Luke Brust (Monroe CC) singled, stole a base and scored in the third to give the Smitties a 3-1 edge they held until Kash’s blast.

Sherrill briefly regained the lead when Michael-Patrick Buckley (Seton Hill) hit a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth.

Gilbert collected two hits in four trips for the Crush.

Kevin Jordan (Pomona-Pitzer) finished 2-for-4 for Sherrill.

Cortland (6-6) plays the Syracuse Jr. Chiefs on Thursday.

Sherrill (1-10) gets a day off before travelling to Oneonta to play the Outlaws on Friday.
