The West Coast Conference hoops season entered its fourth full weekend of action, with four games on Thursday night. The night included some tight finishes, a coaching milestone and a record individual performance. Here’s a look at the full conference slate.

Loyola Marymount 80 Portland 68
The Lions picked up their first conference victory of the season, giving Portland back-to-back losses. Senior Ayodeji Egbeyemi had a career-high 22 points while junior Marin Mornar recorded a double-double (21 pts, 10 rebs).

Saint Mary’s 70 San Diego 58
SMC pulled to 6-0 in conference play as Brad Waldow, Kerry Carter and Aaron Bright all scored in double figures for the Gaels. Bright recorded a points-assists double-double for the hosts. San Diego kept it competitive, as the Gaels struggled at times in the second half after a season-best lead at the halftime break.

No. 3 Gonzaga 78 Pepperdine 76
Gonzaga head coach Mark Few picked up his 200th win in WCC play (200-24 all-time) and Freshman Domantas Sabonis had a double-double (18 pts, 12 rebs) but the Bulldogs went just 14-33 from the free throw line, allowing Pepperdine to keep it close. Jett Raines had 22 points for the Waves while Stacy Davis again excelled off the bench, adding 21 for the hosts. The game was delayed by bad traffic on the Pacific Coast Highway that kept Gonzaga from reaching Malibu until 25 minutes before the originally schedule tip-off.

BYU 93 Pacific 80
Kyle Collinsworth tied the NCAA single-season record for triple-doubles as the Provo product recorded 17 points, 11 rebounds and and a career-high 11 assists. Four Cougars finished in double figures as the visitors led wire-to-wire in Stockton. BYU pulled away with runs of 10-0 and 7-0 after Pacific got within four points at the 12:03 mark in the second half.

They Said It
“Our poise was a big key for us tonight. We kept our poise when they cut into our lead. Our field goal percentage on offense was solid tonight, but we were equally good in keeping them to a lower percentage.” – Loyola Marymount coach Mike Dunlap
