The third weekend of West Coast Conference action started with a bang and a major shakeup at the top of the conference standings. In total, eight teams were in action on Thursday night. Here is a rundown of the conference slate on a busy night that included a nationally-televised contest at BYU’s Marriott Center and a long-anticipated return to Spokane for the nation’s sixth ranked squad.

No. 6 Gonzaga 88 San Francisco 57

In their first home game in nearly a month, the Bulldogs led only by ten at the half but cruised past the Dons thanks to 17 from Kevin Pangos and 16 from Przemek Karnowski. USF hasn’t won in Spokane since 1989.

Pepperdine 67 BYU 61

Pepperdine moved to third place in the WCC Standings (3-1) with a huge road win in Provo. The Waves led the entire contest as Stacy Davis came off the bench for the first time this season, adding 23 points and eight rebounds in a reserve role.

San Diego 59 Loyola Marymount 50

Jito Kok set the Toreros’ single game record for blocked shots with eight while the program’s all-time leading scorer Johnny Dee chipped in 18 points as USD was able to tame the Lions, who fall to 0-4 in conference play.

Portland 78 Santa Clara 61

Alec Wintering’s 26 pts and Thomas van Der Mars 12 boards were too much for the Broncos as Portland shot 53.3 percent in a 78-61 win at the Chiles Center.
