This is not the first time weather has affected the NYCBL Championship.
In 2012, the Niagara Power and Syracuse Jr. Chiefs determined the champion on a neutral field. After Syracuse took game one at home, the series shifted to Sal Maglie Stadium in Niagara Falls. The Power led 6-2 in the top of the fourth when lightning forced players from the field. A deluge followed, and the field was left unplayable. With a league mandated deadline date marked for the next day, the teams decided to meet at McDonough Park in Geneva. Play resumed, and Syracuse rallied for a 9-8 triumph to claim the title.
