Bizzle, Morrison take NYCBL weekly honors

July 29, 2014 by Paul Gotham Leave a Comment

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Austin Bizzle (Olean/ Gulf Coast CC) and Hank Morrison (Hornell/ Mercyhurst) rounded out the 2014 New York Collegiate Baseball League regular season in impressive fashion. Bizzle earned NYCBL Pitcher of the Week while Morrison got the nod for the league’s top hitter for the week of July 21st – 27th.

Bizzle was fantastic in his lone start this week, dazzling over nine innings against Wellsville. The righty from Lynn Haven, Florida closed out the year on a high note, going the full nine in two of his final three starts, allowing only one unearned run in each. Bizzle finished the year as the NYCBL leader in strikeouts, tied for fifth in innings pitched, and eighth in ERA.

Morrison (Mercyhurst) finished the year on an absolute tear, recording multiple hits in each of his five games played this week. He scored in four of five of those games, and drove in two runs in four of the five. His two homers represent 66 percent of his season total, as the righty is heading into the postseason as the league’s hottest bat.
