POUGHKEEPSIE – Former Marist men’s basketball standout Adam Kemp has signed to play professional basketball with KK Feni Industries in Macedonia.
Kemp concluded his Marist career ranked third in program history in blocked shots with 225, and third in rebounds with 825. He was named Third Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in the 2012-13 season. In each of his last two years with the Red Foxes, he averaged in double figures in scoring and shot over 50 percent from the field.
“My four years at Marist were huge in developing me both as a person and as a basketball player,” Kemp said. “Whether it was being held accountable for all your work in the classroom or playing against high-level competition in conference and out, I felt like I was set up to be a professional from the time I got here.
“The facilities here became probably the most important part of me developing as a player, giving me a reason to stay around campus through almost the entire year. Even though I obviously wish we would have won more games during my career, I couldn’t be any more appreciative of the opportunities and advantages that being a student-athlete at Marist presented me for four years.”
The KK Feni Industries team plays in Macedonia’s First Division. In 2011, the team captured the Balkan League championship. The club has also won three Macedonian League championships and two Macedonian Cups.
Kemp will head overseas in the first week of August.
