HOUGHTON, N.Y. — Genesee’s Rapids put crooked numbers on the board in three of the first four innings en route to a convincing 10-5 victory over the Olean Oilers in New York Collegiate Baseball League action at the Kerr-Pegula Athletic Complex, Monday night.
Jason Euler (Mesa CC) highlighted a three-run first run with a two-out single plating Tony Schultz (Northwestern Coll) and Andrew Bonnette (Walsh) with the second and third runs of the inning. Jack LaMarca (Ohio Northern) got the Rapids flowing when he singled and scored Michael Kerr (Houghton).
Bonnette and Kerr drove in a pair of runs in a three-run second with sacrifice flies.
LaMarca delivered two more with a single as Genesee added three insurance runs in the fifth. He tripled home Bonnette for a 10-0 lead in the sixth.
Kyle Sanford (Plymouth St.) allowed one run on three hits and three walks over six innings for the win. The right-hander struck out two for his first win of the season. The Torrington, CT native retired nine of the first ten he faced.
Trailing 10-0, Olean tallied single runs in the sixth and seventh before pasting a three spot an inning later.

Michael Roman (St. John Fisher) connected on a two-out, two-run single in the eighth cutting the lead in half, but the Oilers drew no closer.
Ted Dilts (El Camino) led Olean with three hits including a double in four trips. He drove in one and score a run.
Tyler Roth (Hilbert) pitched two scoreless innings of relief for Olean retiring all six batters he faced. The right-hander struck out four.
Bonnette, Euler and LaMarca each collected two hits.
Bonnette crossed the dish three times.
Kerr and Schultz scored twice.
LaMarca earned NYCBL Hitter of the Night honors with four RBI.
Genesee left five on base while Olean stranded 12.
With the win Genesee (17-19) keep pace in the Western Division. The Rapids trail Niagara (18-18) for the fourth and final playoff spot. Both teams have ten games remaining. Genesee hosts first-place Hornell (27-7), Tuesday night. A 7 pm first pitch is slated.
Olean (10-22) hosts a doubleheader with Wellsville (9-24). The first game is scheduled for 5 pm at Bradner Stadium.
