CENTER VALLEY, Pa.– A packed month of January concludes on Wednesday as the first half of the Patriot League schedule finishes up. The first two teams to hit the midway point will play Monday when Colgate visits Lafayette at 9 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

Patriot League Anaconda Weekly Awards (Jan. 20-26)

Anaconda Player of the Week

Jesse Reed AMERICAN So., G, 6-5, 185; Saltsburg, Pa./Kiski School

American had a pair of first-place showdowns last week, and Reed scored 20 points both times to help the Eagles emerge with an 86-56 win at home against Boston University on Wednesday and an 84-74 victory at Army on Saturday. He was on fire against the Terriers by making 8-of-9 shots and 3-of-3 from long range to lead an American team that shot over 70% overall and from downtown. Reed made 5-of-10 shots and 4-of-6 three-pointers while also pulling down a career-high nine rebounds in the win at Army. He averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 68.4% overall and 77.8% from both three-point range and at the foul line. The Eagles become just the sixth team in Patriot League history to open with an 8-0 mark in League play. Reed is named Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week for the first time, and gives the Eagles three different honorees in the past four weeks after Tony Wroblicky (Jan. 6) and John Schoof (Jan. 20) were also named. American is the first team to have three different players earn Player of the Week honors since Navy’s Jordan Sugars, Chris Harris and O.J. Avworo were selected in 2009-10.

Anaconda Rookie of the Week

Tim Kempton, LEHIGH Fr., F/C, 6-10, 225; Scottsdale, Ariz./Brophy College Prep

Kempton had a pair of solid performances to help Lehigh pull out two close victories last week. He started with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting and pulled down six rebounds as the Mountain Hawks won 68-66 in overtime at Navy on Wednesday. Kempton stepped up in his first matchup with archrival Lafayette on Saturday by scoring 19 points while shooting 7-of-10 from the field and pulling down seven rebounds in Lehigh’s 71-68 victory. He led the team in scoring in both games and is now averaging 12.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game for the season. Kempton is named Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week for the third time.

Honorable Mention

Justin Goldsborough, LEHIGH So., F, 6-8, 210; Fort Washington, Md./St. Stephens & St. Agnes School

Goldsborough averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds while making 13-of-14 shots in a pair of victories for Lehigh.

Kyle Wilson, ARMY So. F, 6-4, 190; Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills (USMAPS)

Wilson averaged 21.0 points in a 1-1 week for the Black Knights, with 27 in a loss to American on Saturday.

Maurice Watson Jr, BOSTON UNIVERSITY So., G, 5-10, 165; Philadelphia, Pa./Boys’ Latin

Watson averaged 15.3 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals as Boston University went 2-1 last week.

Cameron Ayers, BUCKNELL Sr., G, 6-5, 203; Blue Bell, Pa./Germantown Academy

Ayers averaged 21.0 points and 6.5 rebounds and made 22-of-24 free throws in a 1-1 week for the Bison.

Worth Smith, NAVY Jr., F, 6-6, 202; Mooresville, N.C./Charlotte Christian

Smith had a carer-high 26 points in an overtime loss against Lehigh on Wednesday, and averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks in two games last week.
