OLEAN, NY — The Olean Oilers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to regain their lead en route to a 6-3 victory over the Hornell Dodgers in New York Collegiate Baseball League action, Friday afternoon. The Dodgers grabbed a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh, but Olean bounced back with two in the bottom half and added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth
Olean grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning taking advantage of an error, a pair of walks, and two infield singles.
Hornell cut it to 2-1 with a sac fly by Sean McCracken (Southern Nevada) in the fifth. They took their only lead in the game in the top of the seventh when McCracken connected on a two-run double to make it 3-2.
In the seventh, Olean used a single and a walk to get their rally started. After a sacrifice bunt and a flyout, Olean tied the game when a balk was called. One pitch later Tim Ravel (Bloomsburg) singled home what proved to be the winning run.
Olean added two insurance runs in the eighth to seal the victory.
Connell Anderson (Wofford) didn’t figure in the decision after tossing six solid innings. He allowed three hits, two runs, two walks while striking out six. Dominic Olszta (Joliet Junior College) was 3-for-4 while McCracken drove in all three Dodger runs.
Austin Johnson (Tacoma CC) was 2-for-3 for Olean.
Dalton Scarborough started and went six innings for the Oilers.
Kyle McLain (Washington and Jefferson) pitched the seventh for the win.
Derek Vail (Santa Fe CC) hurled a scoreless ninth for the win.
The Dodgers head to Wellsville on Saturday for a 5 p.m. contest with the Nitros. The game is Wellsville’s Breast Cancer contest and money will be raised for the fight against breast cancer.
