BROOKLYN, NY — You don’t want to go to war with the Rams. Especially when that army is adding the likes of Spike Lee.
Ram Nation represents. There is no questioning it. The Black and Gold have filled the Barclays Center for the last two days as their VCU Rams have advanced to Sunday’ A10 finals.
The Rams got game, and nobody knows it like Spike. The New York Knicks most iconic fan has traded in his orange for yellow this weekend and has been joining in from the behind the VCU bench.
HAVOC!
While visiting VCU for a speaking engagement at the school’s Arts Cinema on February 21st, Spike stopped by a VCU practice. Head coach Shaka Smart invited him to address the team.
To no one’s surprise the young Rams embraced the veteran filmmaker and his message.
Smart and Spike have stayed in touch since, and it was only fitting for the New York City resident to request tickets for this weekend’s games.
Spike has made his presence and allegiance known throughout VCU’s victories over UMass and St. Joseph’s.
Sunday, the Rams take on the no.1 seed St. Louis Billikens. SLU beat the Rams 76-62 earlier this year.
Fans can expect to see Spike raising HAVOC for the Rams. Just don’t expect SLU’s Cody Ellis or Dwayne Evans to impersonate NBA Hall-of-Famer Reggie Miller and give Spike the choke signal.
A 1:00 pm tip off is scheduled. The game is broadcast on CBS.
Shaka Smart discusses Spike Lee’s visit to VCU’s practice.
Smitty says
I have to say that I have a bigger appreciation for Spike Lee after this weekend. He was dressed in VCU gear all weekend and was one of the people in the crowd. People were coming up to him for pictures and he was extremely gracious.
Not only was the A-10 on showcase this weekend, but Brooklyn as well. It passed with flying colors and he was big reason.
