UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. — Ryann Dannelly notched the first double-double of her career as Richmond edged St. Bonaventure, 51-46, Wednesday night.
Dannelly ended her career night with 12 points, a personal-best 13 rebounds and two blocks. Kristina King also recorded the first double-double of her career with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Rachael Bilney added 12 points.
The Spiders looked to be in cruise control with a 27-16 advantage at the break. Richmond went 11-for-29 in the first frame and had eight points from Dannelly and King. Richmond bolstered its lead to 31-16 with 17:24 and looked to put the game out of reach.
But over the next seven minutes, the Bonnies would responded with 15 unanswered points to erase the deficit at 33-all with 10:24 to play. It was Sam Bilney’s three in the corner that sealed the Richmond win, making the score 43-37 with 3:07 to play. Helping matters more, was six key rebounds from Bilney down the stretch.
Richmond dominated St. Bonaventure on the glass, 50-30 as it grabbed its first conference win to improve to 11-7, 1-1. St. Bonaventure fell to 7-10, 0-2.
The Spiders travel to the Bronx to face the Fordham Rams at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Gym.
