CHARLESTON, S.C. – Kevin Dillard scored a season-high 20 points to lead the Dayton Flyers to a 73-63 victory over the Auburn Tigers at the 2012 Charleston Classic.
Jalen Robinson came off the bench to pour in 12 points and seven rebounds, while Devin Oliver tallied 12 points and six rebounds.
The Flyers improved to 3-1 overall and won the last two games of the Charleston Classic to finish in fifth.
Against power conference opponents, the Flyers also improved to 18-8 against them in the last five seasons. Dayton has won the last six matchups against Southeastern Conference programs.
Dillard, who has scored in double figures in all four contests this season, went 12-for-14 at the free throw line. He also had three assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, all of Robinson’s points came in the second half when Dillard was out with an injury.
As a team, UD held a significant advantage over Auburn at the free throw line. The Flyers hit 27 free throw attempts at a 75 percent clip.
Dyshawn Pierre hit his first two shots of the game to extend his streak to 10 consecutive made field goals. He finished 3-of-6 from the field and closed with seven points and six rebounds.
Auburn (2-2 overall) was led by Frankie Sullivan with 23 points.
Other contributors for the Flyers included Devon Scott with six points and Vee Sanford with five points and five rebounds.
Dayton begins a three-game home stand starting with a contest against the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. ET.
