BOSTON, Mass. — Richmond fell to Boston University, 70-61, Friday night at Case Gym in Boston, Mass.
The Spiders fell to 1-2, while the Terriers improved to 2-1.
After Richmond went ahead 37-36 with 16:41 remaining in the game, Boston went on a 9-2 run to swing momentum its way and take its biggest lead at 45-39. Richmond would counter with an Okoro jumper, but Boston managed to keep its lead a two-possession game.
The Terriers stretched their lead to 54-42 at the 11:04 mark after scoring nine unanswered points.
Late long-range shots by Kristina King and Rachael Bilney kept the Spiders within striking distance, but the earlier Boston scoring runs had done its damage.
Kristina King scored a career-high 18 points, off 5-of-9 shooting from the field and went a perfect 6-of-6 from the line. Rachael Bilney added 15 points, 10 of which came in the second half. Genevieve Okoro posted another double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds, marking her second gamethis season of notching double-figures in two columns.
Richmond owned the largest margin of victory in the first half, 25-18, after a Samantha Bilney laup with 6:38 left. Boston would outscore Richmond 14-7 to close the half. Kristina King had 10 first half points and Ryann Dannelly corralled a team-high six boards at the break.
Richmond made 48 percent of its first-half shots (13-27) and owned the glass advantage, 25-12.
Richmond continues road play with Hartford Sunday at 2 p.m.
