Counting down the days to tipoff previewing the incoming freshmen of the Atlantic 10. Next up is the Richmond Spiders.
After advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in 2011, the Spiders finished last season 7-9 in the A-10 and 16-16 overall. Chris Mooney and his staff welcome three freshmen to campus: Terry Allen, Luke Moyer and Deion Taylor.
Terry Allen 6’8″ 220lbs. F Houston, Tex./Manvel
All-time leader at Manvel High in points (1,988), rebounds (1,050) and steals (215) … named All-State and 4A Player of the Year as a senior … nominee for Mr. Basketball for the state of Texas … averaged 22.1 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game as a senior … First-Team 24-4A All-District as a sophomore, junior and senior … named District 24-4A MVP his senior year … 4A All-Region 3 Team his junior and senior years … named to 4A All-State Team his senior year and he was 4A Player of the Year 2012 … Second-Team All-Greater Houston 2012 … averaged 21.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game as a junior.
Luke Moyer 6’0″ 170lbs G Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area
Moyer averaged 15.0 points and 3.5 assists per game as a senior, shooting 52 percent from 3 and 83 percent from the foul line… named First-Team Suburban One Conference and First-Team All-Intell as a senior… was named Suburban One Sports.com First-Team All-League as a senior… was Philadelphia News Southeastern PA Top Scorer and 3-point leader.
Deion Taylor 6’7″ 180lbs. F New Orleans, La./St. Augustine
Taylor averaged 12.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game as a senior… named 2012 Metro New Orleans Player of the Year and was First-Team All Metro New Orleans… was First-Team All District 10 4-A and 2012 District 10 4-A Player of the Year… was First-Team All Catholic Schools and All-State as a senior… averaged 11.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks, earning all-district honors as a junior when he helped St. Augustine to the 5A State Championship.
