George Washington basketball invades Fort Myers; honors Military

The George Washington University Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams proudly held the annual Colonials Invasion season tip-off event at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in nearby Fort Myer, Va., on Friday night. With the men’s team tracing its roots back to the venerable facility where it played home games from 1956 to 1975, the night was equal parts celebrating GW basketball and honoring the brave men and women of the military.

Agunbiade, along with nine other players from the Province of Ontario, were selected based on record, playing ability, integrity, character, sportsmanlike conduct and contributions to the teams on which they played and contributions to the game of basketball.

Xavier women’s basketball coach Amy Waugh has announced that freshman Ce’Dra Evans has not been medically cleared to compete for the Musketeers this coming season. Evans was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy during a routine exam performed on incoming freshman student-athletes at Xavier.

Brittany Wilson tabbed preseason All-Atlantic 10 First team, All-Defensive team

Wilson was fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring last year, pouring in 14.0 points per game, and is the second-leading returning scorer in the league. She scored in double figures in 21 of the team’s 31 games including six 20+ point performances and a career-best 31 point output against Fordham on Jan. 11, 2012.

UMass  women’s basketball preseason practice update 

UMass women’s basketball is closing out its third week of preseason practice on Friday and the squad has shown improvement across all facets of the game over the 2012-13 preseason. With a focus on installing a new motion offense system, the Minutewomen and head coach Sharon Dawley have also stressed the importance of developing the defensive abilities of each player.
