St. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Joel Belk (Azusa Pacific) connected for a three-run home run highlighting a seven-run fourth as the Lake Ontario Ridgemen trumped the Olean Oilers, 11-4 in New York Collegiate Baseball League action at Fred Handler Park.
Belk’s blast, his second of the season, plated Kolbe Andrade (St. Petersburg) and Frank Dreslinski (Rend Lake) as the Ridgemen took a lead they never surrendered.
Nick Flanagan (Martin Methodist) led the inning with a single, and Cayden Cunniff (East Texas Baptist) reached on an error. A.J. Crosby (Edward Waters) cleared the bases with a double, and the Ridgemen were off and running.
Crosby eventually scored when Rob Groeschell (Lower Columbia) reached on an error. A Jordan Doherty (Mt. Vernon Nazarene) ground ball scored Groeschell.
Asa Johnson (St. Bonaventure), feeling right at home, went five complete for his first win of the season. The junior struck out three, walked two and allowed six hits and one earned run.
Crosby came on in relief and allowed one run over three innings.
Dominic Porretta (Otterbien) struck out the side in a scoreless ninth.
Olean scored single runs in the second, third, fourth and sixth.
Jon Kemmer (Clarion), the NYCBL Hitter of the Week, went three-for-four with a walk and a run scored.
Zach Machmer (Medaille) took the loss allowing eight runs in four innings. Machmer is 2-3 on the season. Machmer was on the mound when the Oilers rallied from a 7-1 deficit to defeat AIA 20-7 on June 20th.
Flanagan went three-for-four with a walk and a run scored.
Andrade, Belk, Crosby, Dreslinski and Groeschell each had two hits.
Lake Ontario (7-14) hosts the Wellsville Nitros (10-15) Tuesday night. Game time is for 7 p.m. at Basket Road Field.
Olean (14-9) does not return to play until Friday when the Oilers also host the Wellsville Nitros.
