PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Redshirt junior first baseman Matt Elko has been garnered with Player of the Week recognition by the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Philadelphia Big 5 after having a very productive three-game series at St. Bonaventure this past weekend.
Elko batted .667 for the series, going an impressive 8-for-12 at the dish. In all three games against the Bonnies, Elko pounded out multiple-hit games, including three-hit days in the series opener and series finale, finishing 3-for-4 both days. The Parsippany, N.J. native knocked in eight runs during the series, compliments of two twro-run doubles and a bases-clearing triple.
Joining the Owls’ first baseman on the conference’s weekly honor roll was Richmond’s Andrew Brockett as the A-10’s Pitcher of the Week, while Rhode Island’s Tim Caputo nabbed the Rookie of the Week honor.
On the Philadelphia Big 5’s release, La Salle senior Kevin Christy was named its Pitcher of the Week.
