DENVER – University of Dayton women’s basketball player Justine Raterman was named a Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award First-Team All-American today in Denver during open practice sessions for the NCAA Women’s Final Four at the Pepsi Center.
Raterman led the Flyers to the program’s first Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship, taking home the title in 2012. She was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the A-10 Championship. She became the first player in A-10 history to be named to the A-10 All-Championship team four consecutive seasons. The two-time UD captain also repeated as a First Team Atlantic 10 selection and was also named to the All-Academic Team. She’s led the Flyers in scoring all four years of her career.
Raterman is taking graduate classes this semester and carries a 3.73 GPA.
Stanford’s Nnemkadi Ogwumike was selected as the 2012 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winner in NCAA® Division I women’s basketball.
The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I women’s basketball head coaches, national media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in NCAA Division I women’s basketball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
