Charlotte 49ers junior center Chris Braswell was named all-Atlantic 10 third team and freshman point guard Pierria Henry earned a spot on the Atlantic 10’s all-Rookie Team in a vote by the league’s coaches.
Braswell is the 49ers leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 15.6 points and 7.6 rebounds. He ranks 10th in the A-10 in scoring and 6th in rebounding and is one of only three players to rank in the A-10’s top 10 in both categories. He had seven double-doubles this year for the 49ers, including four vs. A-10 opponents. He scored 20 or more points, six times, including a career-high 31 at Massachusetts. He scored his 1000th collegiate point during the season and ranks 22nd all-time in career points. He owns a .510 FG%, which is the highest by a 49er since 2003-04 (Eddie Basden, .536).
Henry is the 49ers starting points guard who leads the 49ers in assists and steals and broke the 49ers 28-year old record for steals by a freshman. Henry averages 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.6 steals. His 2.6 steals rank in the NCAA’s top 10 and 2nd in the Atlantic 10. His 69 steals are the fifth most in a single-season by the 49ers. Henry earned a pair of Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week awards.
The 12th-seeded Charlotte 49ers will play at #5-seed Saint Joseph’s, Tuesday night, in the Atlantic 10 Championship First Round.
