**** Welcome to the Pickin’ Splinter’s Who am I for A-10 women’s basketball. Each week we will highlight an A-10 player or coach past or present. Your mission should you choose to accept will be to take the set of clues and figure out who the player/coach is. Now let’s lay the ground rules for this exercise. First and foremost try this without research. Release your inner James Joyce and show us your stream of consciousness as you decipher the answer. Add to that the teachings of Myagi: patience. If you don’t get the answer right away, give your brain a chance to work if for no other reason than to stay in the discussion. You may not have THE answer, but you might prompt another reader by asking the right question. Good luck!
To figure out who I am, let’s start with the drive I made to play my college basketball. Sure it is the holiday season, but it wasn’t exactly over the bridge and through the woods to get to my school. A five-hour drive that started on Route 15 heading north, I-80 West for 66 miles, and finishing on I-86 West for 89.6 miles. Not enough? Okay, well it was a long drive and once I got there , I dominated. I was the leading scorer on our team for all 4 years. I was just the second player in school history to score over 2,000 points for a career – 2,011 to be exact. 121 times I had double digit scoring games and finished with 756 field goals for my career; both school records. But before you get any ideas, I wasn’t just about offense. In fact, I led our team in rebounding twice and finished third on the school’s all-time rebounding list with 706. I am the only player in school history to have her number retired and I was still playing when they retired it. More importantly, I was part of the team that made the school’s first appearance in post-season play.
Who am I?
Happy Holidays! Be sure to check in tomorrow for O Caption! My Caption! where we provide the photo, and you, the reader provide the creativity.
