FLYER FACTS
Dayton is coming off a 69-60 win over Boston College Sunday, Dec. 4. Senior Justine Raterman scored a game-high 21 points. Freshman Andrea Hoover tied her career high with 13 points against the Eagles. Raterman leads the Flyers in scoring this season with 11.9 ppg. Junior Olivia Applewhite leads the team in rebounding with 5.6 rpg. Senior Patrice Lalor leads the Flyers in assists with 4.3 apg. The Flyers are 2-0 at home so far this season.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Wright State is 4-2 so far this season with wins over Ball State (74-55), Delaware State (57-53), Western Kentucky (86-66) and Buffalo (81-54). The Raiders lost to Missouri (92-62) and most recently suffered a 78-63 setback to Morehead State on Dec. 2. WSU is averaging 70.5 ppg as a team, second best in the Horizon League. Freshman Kim Demmings leads the Raiders and is sixth in the Horizon League in scoring with 16.0 ppg and also with 23 assists. Senior Shaunda Sandifer leads WSU on the boards with 8.3 rebounds per game and in blocked shots (6). Senior Molly Fox adds 12.5 ppg and 8.2 rpg.
SERIES STUFF
This will be the 37th meeting between the Flyers and Raiders. Dayton leads the all-time series 32-4 and has won the last three games, including a 91-61 victory at the Nutter Center on Nov. 29, 2010. Senior Justine Raterman scored a game-high 26 points on her way to scoring the 1,000th of her career. She became just the eighth Flyer to score 1,000 in her junior season. The Flyers have never lost to WSU at home and hold a 19-0 record.
UP NEXT
Dayton will take part in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic competing against Illinois on Dec. 20 and Gonzaga on Dec. 21. The Flyers then take part in the Saint Peter’s College Holiday Classic in Jersey City, N.J. Dec. 29-30. The Flyers return home for their Atlantic 10 opener vs. Rhode Island on Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. ET.
STACKED SCHEDULE
The UD women’s basketball schedule features games against 14 teams that earned postseason berths and five that won conference titles, including seven-time National Champion Connecticut.
SMART AND CLASSY
The Flyers were winners of the 2010-11 Atlantic 10 Female Sportsmanship Award. Dayton was also named to the WBCA Academic Top 25 after turning in the ninth best team GPA in the country.
RATERMAN IN SELECT COMPANY
Justine Raterman was one of 30 women’s basketball players selected as a candidate for the 2011-12 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. Raterman was also named to the 2011-12 Preseason Top 30 list for the Wooden Award. She is one of eight players to be named to both the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award Top 30 and Preseason Top 30 Wooden List. The others are: Lasandra Barrett (LSU), Cierra Bravard (Florida State), Keisha Hampton (DePaul), Glory Johnson (Tennessee), Shenise Johnson (Miami, FL), Natalie Novosel (Notre Dame) and Nnemkadi Ogwumike (Stanford).
SUPER SENIORS
UD has seven seniors on the team this season: De’Sarae Chambers, Patrice Lalor, Casey Nance, Kayla Moses, Elle Queen, Justine Raterman and Staci Willis.

The Flyers play in three regular season tournaments this season: World Vision Classic (Nov. 25-27) hosted by Connecticut in Storrs, Conn., Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic (Dec. 20-21) and Saint Peter’s College Holiday Classic (Dec. 29-30) in Jersey City, N.J.
JABIR IS BEST
Jim Jabir became the all-time winningest women’s basketball coach in University of Dayton program history with the Flyers’ 102-69 victory over Toledo on Dec. 5, giving him the 120th in his UD career. He has a career record of 360-341 in 24 seasons and his UD record is 140-118 in eight seasons. UD’s game against Connecticut on Nov. 27, 2011 marked the 700th of his head coaching career.
PATRICE IS RIGHT ON POINT
Senior point guard Patrice Lalor has 401 career assists, sixth all-time at UD. Lalor needs 40 to move into UD’s Top 5. Leah Abla (1981-85) has 441, Pam Palmer (1980-84) has 443 and Cindy Frericks (1986-90) is third with 450. She’s led the Flyers in that category all three seasons. She is a 2011 A-10 Preseason Third Team selection.
REBOUNDIN RATERMAN
Justine Raterman has 758 career rebounds, seventh all-time at UD. She needs 27 to move into sixth all-time, currently held by Tobette Pleasant (1985-89) with 785.
NANCE’S BLOCK PARTY
Senior Casey Nance is second all-time on Dayton’s career blocks list with 183. The 6-foot-5 center needs 40 to move to the top of the list. She was a 2011 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Defensive Team selection. This is the first summer she hasn’t had a knee surgery prior to the season. Nance had ACL surgeries prior to her freshman and sophomore seasons, and an osteotomy prior to her junior season. Nance is also tied for 12th in UD’s record book for rebounds with 615. She needs one to move to 11th held by Julie Arnold (‘89-93) with 616.
REAL DEAL RATERMAN
Senior Justine Raterman is a 2010-11 First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection. The three-time A-10 All Championship Team selection has led Dayton in scoring in each of her three seasons and currently has 1,482, sixth all-time at UD. She needs 16 points to catch Kristin Daugherty (2007-11) in fifth with 1,498. Raterman was invited to participate in the 2011 USA Basketball’s World University Games but had to decline due to her ACL knee surgery on March 25, 2011. She has not missed a single practice and started the first game of the season. She was selected to the 2011 A-10 Preseason First Team. She also became the first Dayton women’s basketball player named to the Preseason Top 30 Wooden Watch List.
FAB FRESHMEN
The Flyers have two impressive freshmen this season: ESPN Class of 2011 Super 60 Player Andrea Hoover, and 2011 High School McDonald’s All-American Ally Malott. She is the first-ever Dayton player to be named a HS All-American. Hoover has already started three games and is averaging 7.9 points, a team-high 1.7 steals per game and 23.6 minutes per game. Malott is second on the team in scoring with 8.0 ppg.
