WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Five Spiders scored in double-figures as Richmond dominated its oldest rival, William & Mary, 92-61, Wednesday night at Kaplan Arena.
It was Richmond’s 100th win in the historic series, with both teams meeting for the series’ 197th matchup.
Richmond’s 92 points is the most point production since a 103-59 win over VMI Nov. 2009. The Spiders shot 62 percent from the field, their highest field goal percentage since a win over Charleston Southern in 2009.
Richmond’s 15 long-range shots were the teams’ most since a win over Rhode Island in 2004.
The Spiders scored a season-high 50 points in the first half, off 19-for-30 shooting (63%) and went 7-for-13 from long range (54%). Richmond ended its night 36-for-58 (62%) from the floor.
The Spiders had five in double figures, led by Kendall Anthony’s 17 points. Anthony was 5-for-7 from behind the arc and had three assists. Cedrick Lindsay followed with 13 points and Derrick Williams, Josh Dunkier and Conor Smith all added 10 points.
Richmond’s bench outscored the Tribe 52-20 and outmuscled William & Mary 32-22 in the paint.
The Spiders improved to 5-2, while the Tribe fell to 1-7.
