BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland Head Men’s Basketball Coach Jimmy Patsos added to his growing cavalcade of Baltimore-Washington area talent this week when the Greyhounds received National Letters of Intent from Josh Forney (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) and Will Rassman (Takoma Park, Md./Gonzaga College High School).
Forney, who plays at St. Frances Academy, will be the fourth player from Baltimore on the men’s basketball roster next year, joining this year’s sophomores Dylon Cormier (Cardinal Gibbons) and Jordan Latham (City) and freshman R.J. Williams (St. Frances).
Rassman, a sharp-shooting post player form Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., will be one of six other players on next year’s team who hail form high schools within 50 miles of Loyola.
“The Baltimore and Washington, D.C., areas have a ton of basketball talent, and we are very pleased that Josh and Will are continuing the tradition we have of keeping those players in the area,” Patsos said.
ESPNU ranked Forney as the No. 56 center nationally this summer after his junior season at St. Frances and time on B’more Finest, an AAU squad. Forney will be reunited with his high school point guard, Williams, and he has also played on teams with Cormier and Latham in the past.
In 2011, the 6-foot-8 Forney helped the Panthers finish second in the MIAA and Baltimore Catholic League Championships.
Rassman has played for the Gonzaga College H.S. team that won the 2010 title at the prestigious Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament. A 6-foot-7 forward, Rassman has played for Mid-Atlantic Select.
Last season, the Eagles advanced to the championship game of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference where they lost to DeMatha Catholic.
