Not sure how closely you guys follow the NBA since there hasn’t been a lockout discussion yet, I just wanna say that I am absolutely ashamed of both Stern and Hunter. Everyone knew this lockout was coming for years. I don’t understand why not talking about it prior to the season actually being cancelled. Both sides are demanding alot and it seems extremely logical to me to meet in the middle ground on at least the MidLevel Exception, the guaranteed deals and sign and trade clause.

Im no federal mediator but if you put me in a room with David Stern and Billy Hunter, this lockout sure wouldn’t be going on anymore. Both sides are selfish and need to realize the only people who are worried about the NBA are the dieheards. The NBA isn’t the NFL with millions of casual fans. And nobody is missing the NBA(except the diehards) with the NFL, NCAAF and World Series in full swing. And its not going to get any better with College Hoops starting up. I never thought there would be a day where Im more excited for the NHL season than the NBA but until the NBA shows that they give a damn about their fans and that they aren’t just a bunch of billionaires arguing with millionaires, Ill be at the WellsFargoCenter watching Claude Giroux, JVR and Wayne Simmonds. Damn you David Stern.

Drew – you hit the nail on the head as far as the NBA goes – only diehards care. I struggle when it comes to understanding all the legal jargon being discussed. Actually, I don’t even try to understand. I just want me some NBA. Stern and the players should do a little research and see how the NHL did after their extended stoppage. Yeah, it takes a while for a peripheral league to regain its status.

The NBA simply isn’t popular enough to have a lockout. The NFL could have and the NHL isn’t important enough. We all love the game, but like Drew said, they don’t care. Which is a shame. But college is going to flourish, which is nice to see, as I am sure we will all become HUGE college fans. I am sick of seeing Derek Fisher talking about what the players want, and Stern about the owners. This is a soap opera that nobody wants to watch, they just want an end result

Going on a hunch, but I don’t see NBA fans jumping over and becoming fans of college hoops.

“Momo” Jones granted a hardship waiver to play at Iona this season: https://www.icgaels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=14900&ATCLID=205319775

Barring any unforeseen injuries, the Gaels will win an NCAA Tournament game. Jones joins Scott Machado and Michael Glover in the Iona lineup.
Iona opens the season in Puerto Rico against Purdue.

Of course, the World Series has gone exactly as we all expected so far…all about great pitching and which team comes through with that one key hit, or doesn’t make that one critical mistake. 😉

Check out the first paragraph of this post. Pretty spot-on and definitely how I used to feel, until at some point I decided it was fun to (usually) make a fool of myself by going out on a limb with some of my predictions: https://www.platoonadvantage.com/2011/09/friday-forum-our-postseason-picks.html
