Couple of BIG games on tap tonight. Verlander in a must win situation, and Randy Wolf of all people pitching a big one for the BrewCrew. I’m putting slight restrictions on predictions here … to add difficulty, you can’t use the name Cruz or Pujols when picking a winner .. who ya got?
How bad is the NBA situation getting? Games being cancelled. No agreement in sight and they are losing fans by the day. Note to the NBA: when you have college football, basketball, the NFL, the NHL and then MLB – fans are able to replace you…easily.

I was going to ask the same thing Smitty, but pro basketball bores me to no end. And when Stern said on ESPN this morning that the players are losing like $170 million a week, and last year they made $2.2 billion, well, hard to get too excited when I’m staring at bills to pay.
Bill – I hear you and that is my point. With so many different avenues for the average sports fan to watch – the NBA is making a serious mistake. We have a recession going on, MLB is playing some great playoff baseball, college football is in full gear, the NFL didn’t miss a game ( pre-season doesn’t count), and college basketball is just starting. Is anyone going to miss it?
Over the next 4-5 months – where am I supposed to be craving for a NBA fix? I don’t see it as long as I have college basketball, football and hockey. So when David Stern announces next week that Christmas games are cancelled – I will just remind myself that I have plenty to watch.
Mike Golic made a great point the other day about the lockout. The players use the whole “it’s about the fans” mumbo jumbo to save face. In reality, it is affecting those workers more than anyone. There is a ballboy for the NJ Nets who has basically come out and said “I pay my college tuition with that job and without it, I have to find soething else. Might not be that easy.” So yes, the NBA is looking worse and worse everyday and the more the players open their mouths, the more selfish and responsible they appear.
GREAT catch at the wall just now by Josh Hamilton to save some runs in the top of 5th when it looked like Detroit was going to rally.

I’ll take Randy Wolf. 🙂
