With October comes the official start of the college basketball season as teams begin practices. Follow along as Pickin’ Splinters highlights the incoming classes of the A-10 that are “signed, sealed and delivered.”
Next in line comes the La Salle Explorers.
La Salle’s 2010-11 campaign ended in Atlantic City, New Jersey when they fell to the Temple Owls in the A-10 quarter-finals.
Ruben Guillandeaux, Jerrell Williams, Steve Weingarten, Matt Sheehan and Greg Danish graduated. Dr. John Giannini and his staff welcome four freshmen to the Hayman Center: Rohan Brown, D.J. Peterson, Jerrell Wright and Steve Zack.
Rohan Brown 6’6″ 205lbs. G/F East Catholic – Hartford, Conn.
All-state selection after averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds per game…Also named to the Hartford Courant Fab 15 team…MVP of the annual Connecticut High School Coaches Association All-Star game…Earned All-Central Connecticut North honors..Averaged 16 ppg. and 12 rpg. as a junior to earn honorable mention all-state recognition.

High School: Led Hopkins High School to two straight Class 4A State Championships and a combined 61-2 record during his junior and senior seasons…Earned all-state and all-Metro honors as a senior after averaging 14 points, six rebounds and five assists…McDonald’s All-America nominee.
Jerrell Wright 6’8″ 230lbs. F Dobbins Tech – Philadelphia, Pa.
First team Class AAA all-state…Philadelphia Daily News and Markward Club Philadelphia Player of the Year…First team all-city by the Daily News…Averaged 19.9 points, 14.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game…First team all-Public League…Public League Player of the Year by the Herb Good Club…Second team All-Southeastern Pennsylvania by the Philadelphia Inquirer…McDonald’s All-American nominee…Second team all-state as a junior after averaging 21.7 ppg…First team all-Public League and second team all-city by the Daily News.
